Blind Contour

A easy a fast way to train your hand and eyes
to work together is to practice blind contour drawing
Start with a simple 3D object...candle stick or vase is good
for starters
Place a piece of paper on the table in front of you
once you put your pencil down you can't pick it up
until you have finished
NOW follow the outline or contour of the object with
your eyes......as your eyes follows the line it should be
telling your hand where to move
Do several times to see what parts you are seeing and
what parts you aren't. Date your paper to review your
progress
Happy Drawing

Welcome to Artistic Hands Fine Art Studio

Thank you for visiting our studio's blog! Our teaching covers all areas of the arts. Our beginning artists start with sketching and drawing with a focus on form, shape and contrast.

Color is introduced in various mediums such as color pencil, watercolor and pastels. Once color is taught, we can expand to different surfaces such as canvas and texture papers. We also teach the how to's in using brushes and mixing color.

Morning classes are available for preschool students, home schooled students and adults. Afternoon classes are offered to school age students. Adult classes are held on Tuesday mornings/evenings, and Saturday afternoons.

Do you have experience as an artist, but need a place to express your creativity? If so, you will love our open studio times. Come in during open studio and use our space and supplies (or bring your own) to create your own work of art! Open studio sessions are 2 hours each and are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Please see our class offerings, prices and studio information to the right. Welcome!
